Ahero Awasi Municipality Citizen Fora

As per the dictates of Section 22 of the Urban Areas and Cities Act (Kenya) which stipulates the establishment of the Urban Citizen Fora; the bodies where urban residents can raise issues and provide feedback to their local urban or municipal board. The Act mandates that boards invite petitions and representations from these fora and consider recommendations for addressing concerns raised.

Ahero-Awasi Municipality leadership together with other stakeholders, successfully carried its public engagements in both Ahero & Awasi towns respectively yesterday.

The public members expressively aired their priorities to be captured in the ongoing Municipal Urban Integrated Development Plan Review exercise. This has been assisted by consultants from Associates in Integrated Development Africa (Ltd)/IDAL ;sponsored by KUSP II through UIG.

This is very fundamental in implementing projects which are going to address their needs .The Municipal leadership has fully committed to immediately execute the short-term priorities as passed in these meetings which include proper parking, removal of illegal structures, segregation of traders , audit of completed/ongoing development plans , mapping of businesses , paving of walkways , construction of roads, repair of streetlights/lights within the markets ,cleaning of drainages, evacuation of solid waste, clean water, installation of floodlights, acquisition of land for relocations and above all the completion of Ahero-Awasi Municipal Physical Land Development Plan.
